“How to write: Butt in chair. Start each day anywhere. Let yourself do it badly. Just take one passage at a time. Get butt back in chair.” Anne Lamott
Thank you Anne Lamott. “Let[ting] yourself do it badly,” is part of letting yourself do it! The more an artist makes art, the faster the artist may realize a misstep and the more rapidly they can learn from it. Painting daily is difficult. I find this quote so hilarious, because the steps seem easy. The creative process is a habit that artists foster over time. These simple instructions are a fabulous reminder of the steps that help overcome the resistance that comes with daily artmaking. When in doubt, do the work!
