"If I had to live my life again, I’d make the same mistakes only sooner." -Tallulah Bankhead
Painting with a sense of urgency always helps my studio practice. When working with a large painting I will ask myself that if I simply had to finish my painting today, which moves would I make? Typically these are the largest strokes. Of course when you actually must start and finish a painting in a day, then the priorities in the work become more clear. Missteps become more evident, as you have a smaller amount of time to correct them. You become more technically agile. A daily painting may or may not be your best work, but it will certainly lead to it.
