Today I have for you a painting of a pale pink bow, with a hot rose background. For the past year I’ve been drawing and painting bows as an object of reflection and meditation. The bow implies a gift, and if we put bows on young ladies, it begs the question of the recipient. Rarely do you see defiant pink bows or angry pink bows, it’s a symbol for sweetness and cheer, an object for someone else’s joy. Here I’ve used the gender-coded pink to deepen the inquiry, as women are identified by, and advertised to, with the color…..you got it, PINK! It’s everywhere! This bow is off center, so as not to show you her hand. A nod to modesty, leaving a bit to the imagination. Comments are closed.
